The Baalbek temple complex, located in Lebanon, is home to several massive structures.
One of the most striking features of the Baalbek complex is the size and weight of the stones used in its construction. The Temple of Jupiter, for example, features massive blocks of limestone that weigh over 800 tons each, making them some of the largest stone blocks ever used in construction. These blocks were quarried from nearby mountains and transported to the temple site using techniques that are still not understood. One already cut block of granite that remains at the quarry is estimated to weigh over one thousand tons.
